1st and 2nd GRADE BASKETBALL CLINIC

Boys and girls first and second grade basketball is a clinic with a focus on fundamentals, skill development, equal participation, sportsmanship teamwork and the Y’s core values. Practices are held on Saturdays:March 23, March 30, April 5 and April 13. All practices are held at the new YMCA. Deadline for registration is March 13.

$15/Members; $40/Non-members

 

FLIP & DIP

Flip & Dip is a beginner gymnastics and swimming program for preschool children ages 3-5.Children begin with 30 minutes of tumbling, followed by a 30 minute beginner swim lesson.Hint:Girls wear swimsuits for gymnastics and boys wear swim trunks and t-shirts.Sign up by the first of the month.

Tuesdays & Thursdays:5:00—6:05pm; Held Monthly February - May

$20/month for Members; $40/month for Non-members

 

AROUND THE WORLD— April & May

Around the world is a new participant-based introductory sports program designed for children to experience national sports from all over the world.Come and embark on a journey to discover new sports and maybe some new things about yourself, too!

Each session is in two halves of 40 minutes each for a total of 80 minutes.First, we will learn the basic game rules and skills needed to play.Then it’s game time!Over four exciting weeks, we will learn and play popular sports from all over the world and revisit some familiar ones from the good old USA!This program is perfect for those who want to engage and play without the pressure of teams and leagues.It’s a safe, relaxed and fun-filled atmosphere where we all want to join in, learn and have fun.

Each session will be taught and officiated by a YMCA staff member. Lesson plans are available online. Parents are invited to stay and watch, volunteer or take advantage of our beautiful new facility.

Sports this month include:Cricket, Brannboll, Rugby, Dodgeball and more!

Senior (Grades 5-6):Held Wednesdays 5 pm—6:30 pm; Gym Side 2

Junior (Grades 3-4):Held Mondays 5 pm—6:30 pm; Gym Side 2

$20/month for Members; $40/month for Non-members

 

YOUTH PICKLEBALL

This is a time reserved for youth who want to learn and play Pickleball; America's fasted growing sport! Parents are welcome to come along and play, too. Pickleball is very similar to Tennis and Ping Pong; for March we will have staff on hand to go over the rules - it's really easy and fun!

Tuesdays 5:35 pm-6:30 pm - GYM SIDE 2

 

YOUTH VOLLEYBALL

Volleyball is for youth/teens looking for practice or a fun game of volleyball.Those who are new are welcome to come and enjoy our volleyball in the Gym! No experience required and parents are welcome.

Held Fridays 5 pm—6 pm  - GYM SIDE 1+2

 

SUMMER DAY CAMP FOR AGES 6-12

*Expanded horse program

*More adventures for older kids

*Air rifle, archery, & Frisbee golf

*Character program teaches values

RIVERSHARKS COMPETITIVE SWIM PROGRAM

1st & 2nd GRADE BASKETBALL CLINIC REGISTRATION

This four week clinic will focus on basketball skills and fundamentals. The clinic is developmental, non-competitive, and provides equal participation. The clinic meets on Saturdays. The program is held at high school gyms in Clarion County.

PRE-K and KINDERGARTEN BASKETBALL CLINIC 

This clinic will be held in May at area high school gymnasiums. The clinic will focus on the development of the basic fundamental skills of basketball with fun activities. The goal of the program is to get all of the participants involved and excited about basketball in order to create a foundation in the sport.

SWIM LESSONS - JUNE, JULY & AUGUST

Swim lessons are available at the Clarion Borough Pool. Lessons are with a certified and qualified lifeguard. Your child will need a swim suit, a caring parent/guardian or adult nearby.

SOCCER CLINIC - JUNE

Soccer skills clinics teach fundamentals of soccer. This program is held on Saturdays at the Clarion County Park in June for ages 4-14. This program is a great refresher for our Summer Soccer Program.

SUMMER SOCCER PROGRAM - JULY

Summer Soccer is a 7-week program for kids in pre-k to 8th grade. This program is a developmental, participation based program with t-shirts for all players. The program is held at the Clarion County Park.

FLAG FOOTBALL—SEPTEMBER

Flag football is a fun, participation-based football program for kids in 1st through 6th grade. Games are played on six consecutive Saturdays and practices are held on weeknights. All participants receive t-shirts.

RIVERSHARKS COMPETITIVE SWIM TEAM

The Riversharks competitive swim team begins in early October and the regular season runs through mid-February. Practices are held at Clarion University in the evenings 2-5 nights per week with meets on Saturdays. Meets are held at CUP and at other YMCA’s throughout the CENKEY League. The Riversharks competitive swim team is composed of two levels: developmental and competitive. Swimmers who need stroke development and technique work will begin in the developmental group until they learn and progress. Swimmers have a flexible practice and meet schedule. 5th & 6th GRADE BASKETBALL PROGRAM—NOVEMBER

YMCA basketball is a fundamental, participation based program for boys and girls in 5th and 6th grade. Practices and games will be held at local school districts and coordinated with volunteer coaches.Registration is required by October 17. Practices could begin as early as October 22.  Games will be played on Saturdays beginning November 3 and ending December 15. All players receive t-shirts.Cost is $25/Members; $45 Non-members.

3rd & 4th GRADE YOUTH BASKETBALL - JANUARY

Youth basketball for 3rd and 4th graders is a fundamental, participation-based program with games on Saturdays and one practice per week. Practices are held at or near local school districts and coordinated by volunteer coaches. Games will be played on Saturdays. Teams are built by the YMCA youth Coordinator. Gender-based teams are built for boys and girls. Youth basketball emphasizes equal participation, fundamentals, sportsmanship and teamwork.
