YMCA Shoe Drive Hopes to Make a Difference - blog post image

In the US alone, approximately 630 million shoes are thrown away per year. The materials used to manufacture a pair of shoes are created from chemical compounds that will create health hazards if left to disintegrate openly or in landfills.

By donating your gently worn, used or new shoes to the Clarion County YMCA, your shoes are given a second chance to make a difference! The YMCA is hosting a Shoe Drive with a goal of 2,500 pair through January 31.

All donated shoes will be redistributed to impoverished nations for people to use to start their own businesses.

If you would like to help collect shoes, please ask your friends, neighbors, co-workers, and church for shoes. Shoes can be collected and dropped off at the YMCA through January 31, 2018.

The YMCA would like to partner with local businesses, churches, and groups to reach the goal. If your group would like to help make a difference, please contact Jesse Kelley
